A DEVOTED grandson raising money for charity in honour of his beloved nan has boosted its coffers with a fundraising stall at a car boot sale.
Bargain-hunters dug deep in their pockets for Graham Hitchin, from Mold at a car boot sale at the town’s Love Lane car park on Sunday.
Graham, 23, is taking part in the Bupa Great North Run in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
He roped in cousin Stacey Robinson and her boyfriend Benjamin to man a stall at the sale in a bid to generate some more money for the charity.
The assistant accountant is hoping to raise more than £500 for the cause after nan Gillian, also from Mold, was diagnosed with dementia.
Gillian, who has five children and nine grandchildren, now needs round-the-clock care at a nursing home.
Graham said: “It’s been heartbreaking to see the deterioration in nan’s condition over the past 10 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who was so very house-proud and enjoying her retirement, and now she no longer remembers any of us.”
Graham will be pounding the streets of Newcastle and the surrounding area in the half-marathon on September 19.
