THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for charity in honour of a young man killed on a night out.
Friends and family of Peter Jones from Mold turned out in force for a fun day at the Queens Head pub on the town’s Chester Road on Saturday.
Organisers expect the event will have raised about £3,000 for Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire where Peter had a liver transplant as a baby.
Joyce Probert, chef at the pub, said: “It was a brilliant day and all his friends and family came. We expect we had about 150 people here and everyone really enjoyed themselves.”
Peter, 24, died after being punched on a night out with his father, also Peter Jones, in Buckley.
Nichola Hall, a friend of Peter’s mother, helped to organise the day.
She said: “Peter’s loss has been massive. This is something positive to come out of something so tragic. It is a way of helping Peter’s family by raising money.”
Last month a sponsored walk from Mold to Moel Famau raised more than £460 for the hospital.
- AIRBUS worker Gafyn Denman, 22, has admitted the manslaughter of Peter Jones.
He has been remanded in custody until August 27.
