A FORMER DJ committed an indecent act in front of two young girls in the street, a court was told.

Lee Steven Fenwick admitted outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner in his car in Clayton Road, Mold.

Fenwick, 25, denied the act was aimed at the girls, aged 13 and 14.

He said he had looked at some explicit images on his phone and started indulging in a sex act by himself spontaneously.

Fenwick, of Cae’r Fron, Holywell, also denied there was another young child present during the incident in Mold on May 13.

He was bailed for a pre-sentence report to be carried out when he appeared at Flintshire Magistrates’ Court in Mold yesterday.

It was decided that District Judge Andrew Shaw, who will sentence Fenwick in three weeks’ time, should decide whether evidence should be called to decide on what basis he should be sentenced.

It was also pointed out that the charge Fenwick faced meant he would not have to register with the police as a sex offender.

Christine O’Kane, prosecuting said that at 6.30pm on May 13 the two girls were walking along Clayton Road towards the town centre when they became aware of a car.

It pulled up in front of them, the car window was open and one of the girls said she immediately recognised Fenwick.

As the girls walked past Fenwick was holding a mobile phone in one hand.

He was exposing himself and as indulging in an indecent act with the other hand.

When one of the girls saw that, she panicked and told the other girl to run.

They told their parents and the police were informed. When arrested Fenwick said he had driven from work and went to Clayton Road to pick up his wife who worked in the vicinity but she had already been picked up.

He pulled up at the kerb and looked at his mobile phone on which he had explicit material.

That aroused him and he decided to indulge in the sex act in the car.

He agreed it was a busy road and with hindsight he realised he could have been seen.

Police put it to him that he had intended the girls to see him because he had pulled up eight yards ahead of them with the window open.

But Fenwick denied that.

Fenwick was bailed on condition he does not contact prosecution witnesses and was told all sentencing options would remain open.
