A CHURCH needs funds for a major refurbishment.

New Life Church in Holywell is looking to create a new facility which will help offer services, support and activities to members of the congregation and local people.

Pastor Dan Morgan, 40, has been head of the church for more than five years.

“As a church we are very community-focused,” he said. “We are looking for either a major refurbishment and extension or a new building.

“This is a really exciting time for the church. We believe this can make a real difference in the local community.”

The church on Post Office Lane hosts groups open to non-church members including a youth group, parents and toddlers group, coffee mornings and kids’ club.

Pastor Morgan, a former pupil at Holywell High School, made a presentation to community leaders at a Holywell town council meeting.

Town Mayor Peter Curtis said the plans were well received and councillors would help in any way they could.

“It got a very positive reaction,” he said. “This will be good for the community in general and a boost to Holywell. This is the perfect example of a big society, it is different parts of the community working together. We wish them all the best in this.”

Architects will now draw up plans before church leaders decide on which option to take. They will then look to find funding for the project.

Pastor Morgan said: “This is the new face of the church. It has always been about community. We are trying to get back to that in a way that works for today’s community.”
