A CAMPAIGN by a terminally ill mum to raise as much money as possible for charity has already seen £10,000 pledged for good causes.

More than 100 people are set to take on the challenge of scaling Snowdon tomorrow to raise money for two charities chosen by Vikki Purslow, 27, of Coedpoeth.

Vikki has terminal cancer and is keen to spend as much time as possible with her husband Matthew, 25 and her children Amelie, five, and eight-month-old Cleo in her remaining months.

But she has also taken on the challenge of raising as much as she can for good causes, and says the £10,000 already raised for The Willow Foundation and Nightingale House is “amazing.”

She has now organised another charity event – a fun day in Coedpoeth on August 22.

This time the money raised will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Nightingale House.

Vikki is hoping to be well enough to see the walkers set off on the charity climb up Snowdon at the weekend but is too poorly to take part herself. “Everybody is getting very excited,” she said.

“Fingers crossed for good weather. My eldest daughter is doing the walk and she's so excited because she knows she's helping Nightingale House and The Willow Foundation.”

Speaking about her condition, Vikki said: “The girls are my main focus now and it's lovely that Amelie wants to be involved in the fundraising.

“Amelie, Cleo and Matthew are the reason I get out of bed in the morning. I love them all so so much and it’s breaking my heart that I have to leave them soon.

“I'm just making the most of every minute I have with them.

“We don’t waste a minute and we take lots of pictures to help them remember the good times.

“I'm very lucky that I have the opportunity to leave things behind for them.

“Lots of people don’t have the same opportunity.”

The fun day in Coedpoeth in August will feature a car boot sale, a bake sale, a teddy bear trail and games, stalls and market stalls.

There will also be a barbecue and raffle.

Vikki added: “We are open to suggestions for the day and welcome as much help as possible from the community.”
