CLINTON SChifcofske wants to keep his own form and the team’s recent good run going when Crusaders tackle Salford City Reds at The Racecourse on Sunday.

Coach Brian Noble and the rugby league pundits were full of praise for the full back’s performance in the 30-24 victory against Castleford Tigers in Neath.

He slotted home five out of five conversions and has been one of Crusaders’ stand-out performers since his return to the 13-man code.

The former Ulsterman admits he is also happy with his form and the understanding he has with his two wingers: “I’m pretty happy with my own form,” he said.

“I feel I’m playing well and I’m enjoying my rugby at the moment. I think our back three is doing really well. Luke Dyer and Nick Youngquest work very hard in getting yards on the first few tackles in our own half and I think we compliment each other really well.

“We work well together and the whole team is working well together.”

Schifcofske was also full of praise for the Neath crowd and is hoping the North Wales public will turn out in force to get behind the team at The Racecourse this Sunday.

“They were terrific,” he added. “They made a lot of noise and they really got behind the guys. That gives us a huge boost.

“There was some great banter going back and forth between Castleford and our fans, the crowd is really close to the field and that always makes for a great atmosphere.

“Hopefully we can get a good crowd at the Racecourse this Sunday. It’s a huge game with regards to the play-off picture. The fans in Wrexham are very passionate and they give the team that extra edge on match-days.”

Team-mate Jordan James believes Crusaders are finally starting to believe they can secure a play-off place.

“We needed the win on Sunday to keep in touch with the pack for the top eight. We put in a lot of hard work again and we’re delighted that it has come off. “

James also revealed his relief after breaking his Super League duck for the 2010 season:

“It was good to get a try. It means I don’t have to get my kit off and do the nudie run at the end of the year!” he said.
