A MEMORIAL fund set up to fly home the bodies of a tragic schoolboy and his mother is gathering support.

The Flint community has rallied round to raise money for the Monika and Patryk Wasco Fund, set up by Polish friends to pay for a burial in their home country.

Mrs Wasco was found dead at the family home in Cae Hir in the early hours of July 11.

Patryk, 11, died four days later at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.

Post-mortem examinations revealed both died of stab wounds.

This weekend staff at Sainsbury’s store in Flint will be collecting money at the store in Holywell Road.

Employee Patricia Mulreay, who is also the secretary of St Mary’s RC Primary School PTA where Patryk was a pupil, has organised the fundraiser.

She said: “I didn’t know Patryk personally, but  other committee members had only been speaking to him the day before at the summer fair.

“It has come as a massive shock. You just don’t think this kind of thing will happen.”

Following the tragic deaths the community has pulled together to support Monika’s husband, Rafal, and other son, Adrian.

Patricia added: “The community support has been fantastic.”

A Facebook page set up in their memory has attracted almost 400 members.

Patryk’s friend, Gethin Martin Lloyd, posted: “Patryk was the best goalkeeper ever. I am going to put all my pocket money in the bank at Flint so that Patryk and his mum can go home.”

To donate to the fund, call in to Sainsbury's store tomorrow and Sunday or go to your local TSB branch and make a payment to TSB sort code 77-48-05 and account number 27994668.

Alternatively make a cheque payable to Flint Catholic Church or drop off your donation at the Polski Sklep convenience store on Holywell Road.

Krystian Rozek, 27, has been charged with the murders of Monica and Patryk Wasco and the attempted murder of Rafal Wasco.

Rozek appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court last Friday and was remanded in custody until September 9.
