POLICE believe burglars who stole vehicles and other equipment during a raid in Northumbria could be in North Wales.

Four men broke into a compound in the area around Newham Buildings, Chathill, stealing a 4x4, trailer, quad bike and lawnmower.

They headed south along the A1 following the raid, which took place some time between 3pm and 4pm on Tuesday, July 6.

CCTV coverage released by police shows one man driving the stolen Isuzu Trooper, registration K708 OJR, accompanied by three others in a Land Rover Freelander.

A spokesman said: “The offenders gained access to various buildings within the compound and stole a number of items, including the keys to a vehicle which was on the site.

“They used the vehicle and attached an Ifor Williams trailer, which was also at the site, and loaded it with stolen items including a Husqvarna sit-on lawnmower and a Honda quad bike.

“They then made off in the 4x4, with the stolen trailer loaded with stolen items and headed for the A1 southbound. Our intelligence suggests the vehicles could be heading to North Wales.”

Police are keen to speak to anyone who can identify the four men, or the vehicle, in the images and anyone who may have any information about the theft or the whereabouts of the stolen property.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
