A WREXHAM man has appeared in court charged with stealing £54,000 in cash in an alleged raid on a post office.

Nathan John White, of Stockwell Grove, appeared from custody before magistrates in Wrexham yesterday charged with robbery from David Taylor.

The 26-year-old was also charged with carrying an imitation handgun with criminal intent.

The charges both relate to an alleged incident at Cefn Mawr Post Office last Thursday.

Alun Williams, defending, said his client would not be making an application for bail.

White was remanded in custody to appear before crown court on July 30 for a committal hearing to Mold Crown Court.

David Taylor, 46, suffered head injuries during the incident and was treated at hospital.

But despite this he vowed to carry on as normal and the post office was open for business again on Saturday.

Speaking to the Leader after the raid he said: “These things that happen are very rare and you just have to carry on,” he said.

Meanwhile the Rev Aidan Coleman of nearby Rhosymedre Church is set to give a bouquet of flowers to David and his wife Janine.

Rev Coleman said: “The congregation of Rhosymedre want to thank Janine and David – they are a tremendous asset to the local community.

“They have the full support of the whole community.”
