A CAMPAIGN to revive a popular town carnival is appealing for help.

Preparations are underway to bring back Flint Fun Day, a festival which was stopped more than a decade ago.

Campaigners hope it will take place in August 2011 and will include a teddy bear’s picnic, talent competitions and fairground rides.

Organiser Nathan Griffiths is asking people to submit their old photographs ready for an exhibition early next year.

He told the Leader: “I’ve had a good response and have lots of photographs for the exhibition.

“People have stopped me in the street and told me they would dig out their old photos. I’ve also had old ladies calling me to talk about their memories of the fun day. It’s been lovely to sit and talk to them.”

Nathan would also like to know when the last carnival was held and who the last Rose Queen was.

“Somebody told me it was 15 years ago but I’m struggling to find the exact date,” he added.

“I have been in touch with a Flint historian who has helped me out a lot. I’d also love to get my hand on some medals or trophies for the exhibition.”

A group on social networking site Facebook has also been gathering support.

“I miss the community spirit of Flint,” wrote one person on the group named ‘Bring Back Flint Fun Day’.
