A GROUP of teachers are set to start their summer break with a mammoth charity walk.

The staff from Ysgol Maes Garmon in Mold have set themselves the challenge of walking the length of the Offa’s Dyke path.

They aim to complete the 176 miles from Chepstow to Prestatyn in 10 days and have been training hard.

The teachers are undertaking the mammoth task in aid of Hope House Children’s Hospice and are hoping to raise over £2,000.

Llinos Roberts, who is co-ordinating the walk, said: “A group of us have done the Race for Life and Midnight Walk for charity and we wanted a new challenge this year.

“We think the walk along the Offa’s Dyke historic path will be beautiful, but will test us to the limit.

“We decided to support Hope House as we are all teachers and children are very close to our hearts.”

Diane Aplin, area fundraiser for Hope House, said: “Llinos and her team have been working so hard to get ready for this walk, and all during their busy summer term.

“It will be a real challenge for them, but they have the support of all us at the hospice, our children and their families.

“The money raised will go towards running and maintaining the two hospices.

“It costs £4 million every year to provide the respite care and services to our
families.

“We are so grateful to Llinos and the team for thinking of us and raising money to support Hope House.”
