STAFF and pupils at a village primary school have waved a fond farewell to a much-loved teacher.

Pauline Douglas is retiring from Ysgol Parc y Llan in Treuddyn after 22 years.

Headteacher Sian Fordham said: “Mrs Douglas has been a dedicated, caring teacher, always on hand to support and guide the pupils from the time they enter school until they transfer to secondary school.”

Mrs Douglas has been with the school since it opened in 1992.

For five years before that she worked at the old Coed Talon CP School until the new school was built.

Mrs Fordham added: “It will be a very sad day for the community of Treuddyn, Ysgol Parc y Llan and myself when Pauline leaves.

“I have taught with her since 1987 and I cannot imagine coming to school in September and not seeing her in the classroom.

“Throughout all these years, she has been an extremely close friend as well as a respected work colleague. It’s the end of an era for the school, but the beginning of a new phase for Mrs Douglas.”
