THE sister of a young man who died on a night out has said he would have been “proud” of a fundraising walk in his honour.
Family and friends of Peter Jones, 24, from Mold, walked from Mold to Moel Famau on Saturday to raise money for Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridgeshire where Peter had a liver transplant as a baby.
Twenty years ago Peter’s mum Christine did the same sponsored walk to raise money for the hospital.
His sister Sarah Jones, 28, organised another walk for ‘Little Peter’ and helped raise more than £460.
She said: “It was an amazing turnout, a really good day. We had about 30 or 40 people. There were family, friends and children. It was emotional.
“It is a nice feeling to know people can turn out and do something positive and it made me happy to know people care.
“Peter would have been amazed by the amount of people. He would have been so proud. I would like to thank everybody for coming and the generosity of the town.”
Cash was also raised from a collection from pubs in Mold on Saturday night.
Peter died in the Countess of Chester Hospital on May 9 after sustaining a head injury during a street fracas in Precinct Way, Buckley.
