TOUGH action has been promised to deal with criminals targeting the elderly.
A “no cold calling zone” has been set up on Heron Close and Eaton Close, Broughton, to protect older residents from being targeted by bogus callers and people using hard-sell tactics.
Anyone caught selling door-to-door in the area could now face prosecution after the measures were introduced thanks to Broughton and Bretton Community Council and North Wales Police.
PCSO Jason Knowles said the scheme would act as a deterrent and would help people most at risk of being victims of crime.
He said: “Herons Close has known to be targeted in the past.
“It is hoped that the signs will be a deterrent. This is to help people who could be at risk.
“It is to stop bogus callers and people pushing the hard sell. This is something the residents have been asking for.”
