Northop were in a hurry to return to winning ways in Division One as they defeated Bersham by nine wickets inside 43 overs.

Paceman Mark Poynton was the big threat to Bersham’s batsmen, removing three of the top five on his way to a five wicket haul, while brother Andy and Jonathon Haupfleisch bagged two victims each to bowl the away side out for just 89.

The hosts took little time to knock the runs off as Darren Williams hit an unbeaten half century.

Gresford’s promotion bid faltered once more as they were beaten for the second consecutive week, losing to leaders Pwllheli by four wickets.

Opening batsman John Bell led the way for Gresford as they were asked to bat, the experienced all-rounder hitting 92 of his sides 222-9 declared.

Bell and Patrick Richards then took two wickets apiece in the Pwllheli response, but Nadeem Rehman’s red hot streak continued with an unbeaten 99 and Michael Hughes struck 80 to help their side home.

Halkyn put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone with a narrow eight run triumph over hosts Bethesda.

After being inserted Halkyn reached 168-8 declared thanks largely to a fine 62 by Duane Williams, who was aided by contributions from Ian Mercer, Gareth Thomas and Matthew Williams.

Halkyn bowled superbly up front to leave their opponents struggling on 61-4, although that quickly became 95-5 and success appeared to be slipping away from the visitors.

However, Halkyn fought resolutely and Gareth Thomas (3-23) and James Beresford (2-6) were able to bowl their side to a victory.

Llay Welfare were ruthlessly efficient as they comfortably defeated Denbigh by 152 runs to boost their promotion hopes and dent their opponents Premier Division dreams.

The home side totalled 240-7 with a number of contributions from the likes of Dave Phennah, Damian Bryan and John Lloyd. Harrison Jones proving the main bowling threat with 4-49.

In response Denbigh were unable to get any real partnerships together and with five duck’s they were bowled out for just 88, Phennah leading the way with 3-22, while Bryan, Phil Bray and Daniel Parry all took two wickets each.

Nick Husbands’ 78 proved in vain as Marchwiel and Wrexham lost to hosts Llandudno 2nds by seven wickets.

The Marchwiel skipper had some support from number 10 Luke Davies (28), but apart from extras (31) they were the only two make it into double figures as they ended on 152.

Marchwiel were unable to build on a good early start with the ball as Llandudno wobbled at 54-3, and the home side crused to victory with a 100 partnership from Phil Williams and Chris Hardy.

Rhewl endured another tough weekend as Conwy left their Ruthin School Ground with a nine wicket success.

The hosts could only post 81 all out having been inserted into bat and Conwy duly knocked the runs off within 14 overs and for the loss of just one wicket.

Ross Roberts was in sensational form with the bat as his unbeaten 150 led Division Two basement outfit Brymbo 2nds to a 28 run success over Gwersyllt Park.

Roberts was head and shoulders above his team mates as Brymbo posted 239, Phil Huckridge (4-58) removing the tail to leave the top order batsman stranded.

Michael Edge and Jamie Smith then shared six wickets to help bowl Park out for 211, Narenda Chowdrey (42) and Rhys Ryder (39) threatening to spoil Roberts’ party.

Northop 2nds got the better of Bangor 2nds during a low scoring game at Ty Newydd.

Phil Evans (41) was the only notable run scorer as Northop were dismissed for 127, although it proved more than enough as James Roberts (4-14), Tom Allman (2-18) and Chris Hinton (2-8) made sure Bangor made no more than 101.

Tom Dawson spun Pontblyddyn 2nds to victory as they put a gap between themselves and opponents Abergele with a 53 run triumph.

John Stanforth’s half century and 43 from Edward Jones made sure Pont had something to defend as they totalled 164, before Dawson took over.

The youngster took 5-36 and four catches – two caught and bowled – to dismiss Abergele for 111.

Carmel and District were also winners as they overcame visiting outfit Corwen by 31 runs.

Nick Washbrook (46) was the top scorer as Carmel scored 151 having been asked to bat first, Lly Jones, Nathan Aldridge and Joshua Maynard with three wickets apiece.

Carmel followed that with a tight bowling performance, Jonathan Hunter and Chris Davies the pick as Corwen were removed for 120.

Buckley opened up an 11-point lead at the top of Division Three courtesy of a ruthless 155 run success over fellow promotion hopefuls Hawarden Park 2nds.

Mathew Edge (67), Jordan Baxter (47) and Paul Rambaldi (44) found the going good as Buckley posted 258-6 from their allotted 45 overs.

Park’s reply started positively, but they soon found themselves staring at defeat as four of their top six were removed for a total of three runs, Buckley captain Phil Bradfield, Paul Wilbraham, Ryan White and Baxter all among the wickets as they bowled their opponents out for 103.

Mold 2nds moved into the promotion places with a 27 run triumph over Bala.

Struggling on 76-6 Mold needed skipper Alisdair Harradine (43no) to propel them to 159-8 before Rob Moore (3-30), Luke Van der Koij (2-20) and Nathan Brearley (2-41) helped remove Bala for 132.

Nadeemul Syed failed in his quest to score a third consecutive century, but his 71 proved the catalyst for another victory by Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nds.

Syed and Paul Ankers (61) made sure that Castell Alun were chasing a daunting total as the hosts posted 286-6, Bilal Ahmad also chipping in with 34.

Keith Jaynes was the stand out performer for Castell Alun with the bat, hitting 53 not out, but his efforts were in vain as only two others reached double figures in their 114.

Andrew Lund enjoyed a day to remember, recording figures of 7-22 to help Shotton defeat Llay Welfare 2nds by nine wickets.

Lund and partner in crime Adam Mitchell (3-16) removed Llay for just 39 before Shotton knocked off the required runs inside 12 overs for the loss of just one wicket.

Denbigh 2nds (125-3) recorded a victory as they overcame Llanrwst 2nds (124-7) by seven wickets.

Lee Davies and Keith Jones combined to devastating effect as Connah’s Quay 2nds maintained their grip on Division Four by beating Gresford 2nds by 202 runs.

Jones led the way with the bat, scoring an impressive 112 at the top of the order to help Quay total 262-9, Wes Gillam also chipping in with 60. James Williams was the pick of the Gresford bowlers with 5-75.

It was the turn of Davies after the turnaround, the bowler bagging 6-35 alongside Luke Bennett’s 4-17 as Gresford were skittled for 60.

Carmel and District 2nds suffered a mixed weekend as they followed up a 107 run loss to Mochdre 2nds on Saturday with a seven wicket win over Corus Colors the following day.

The returning Jonathan Fisher hit an unbeaten half century for Carmel (123-3) as they beat Corus (122-9) having missed the match with Mochdre, who scored 219-4 before removing their opponents for 112.

Halkyn 2nds slipped into the Division Five relegation places following a 60 run defeat at fellow strugglers Menai Bridge 3rds.

The home side had no answer with the ball as Bridge racked up 240-3, and despite a timely knock of 75 from Aled Affleck in reply, Halkyn were dismissed for 180.

Buckley 2nds secured a sixth win of the campaign with a 90 run triumph at Pwllheli second XI.

Alyn Evans (79) and Alan Fretwell (37) put on 94 for the first wicket before Adam Shaw (32) helped Buckley to 219-8.

Shaw, Evans and Daz Wilcock then took two wickets each as Pwllheli’s reply was brought to a halt on 129-8.

Corwen 2nds and Llangollen 2nds played out a highly entertaining tie in their Division Six meeting at War Memorial Park.

Jason Jones (37) and Harry Wilson (28)  guided Corwen to 153-6 from their allotted 45 overs before Jones and Simon Harrison looked set to bowl their side to victory.

The duo shared six wickets, but Craig Roberts hit 44 to take Llan close, although they could not find the one run they required as Evans bowled captain Aaron Roberts for six with two balls to spare.

Luke Bennett struck an impressive half century as Shotton 2nds (124-2) defeated Castell Alun 2nds (122) by eight wickets, while Jim Scarratt (4-9) and Tom Hall (3-22) helped Corus Maeshafn (65-7) maintain their promotion push with a win over Anglesey 2nds (63).

Rhewl 2nds (74) slipped to a 10 wicket defeat at the hands of second placed Bodedern 2nds (75-0).
