THE family of a young man who died on a night out in Buckley have organised a charity walk in his memory.

Family and friends of Peter Jones, 24, from Mold, will be walking from Mold to Moel Fammau this Saturday in a bid to raise money for Addenbrooke’s Hospital in
Cambridgeshire where Peter was treated as a baby.

Peter, who was affectionately known as Little Peter by his family, underwent a liver transplant at the hospital when he was just two years old.

Twenty years ago Peter’s mum Christine did the same sponsored walk to raise money for the hospital.

Now his sister Sarah, 28, has enlisted the help of her brother’s friends and family to re-enact the walk in Peter’s memory.

All the participants will dress as nurses and will be asking for sponsorship and donations on the day.

Sarah said: “My mum did it 20 years ago with my aunties so we decided we should do it again. There’s about 20 of us doing it so far, but we would like more to join in.
The more the merrier.”

The walkers will set off at 12.30pm from St Mary’s Church, where Peter was buried, and walk to Mold Cross, up the A494 through Gwernymynydd, Cadole and Loggerheads to the bottom car park at Moel Fammau, before returning to Mold on the same route.

The family has also organised a fun day at the Queen’s Head Public House on Chester Road, Mold, on Saturday August 14.

All proceeds will go to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Peter died in the Countess of Chester Hospital on May 9 after sustaining a head injury during a street incident in Precinct Way, Buckley.

If you would like to take part in the walk call Sarah on 07548 388514.
