UP TO 40 jobs are set to be created when the new JD Wetherspoon in Shotton opens its doors.

The pub which is housed in the Central Hotel building on Chester Road West is due to open on August 20.

Builders who began work in May are working hard to restore the derelict pub, next to Shotton railway station.

The new-look pub, designed by Manchester-based architects Harrison Ince, will feature a gold and navy sign, bay windows, floodlights and a plaque detailing the history of the building.

JD Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon told the Leader: “It’s been a long time coming but we are very pleased that the project is finally coming to fruition. It is a great investment for the area and will bring dozens of jobs for local people.

“The Central Hotel has been a landmark in the town for many years and sadly has fallen into a state of disrepair. Hopefully we will restore it to its former glory and bring some much-needed business to the town.”

Up to 40 jobs will be created at the pub including bar and kitchen staff.

Try your local job centre or search www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk for positions at the new pub.

Eddie said: “You can also do it the old fashioned way and pop in nearer to the opening date and pick up an application form.”
