PLANS to help shape the future of communities in the west of Wrexham will come under the spotlight this month.

Roadshows are being staged in Gwersyllt, Llay, Coedpoeth, Brymbo and Tanyfron to encourage people to get involved in a series of community action plans being
developed to tackle local issues.

The plans are being drawn up using feedback from local people gathered by Wrexham Council’s economic development department over the past 12 months.

Residents were encouraged to talk about the positive and negative aspects of where they live.

Comments ranged from positive feelings about local schools to concerns about issues such as fly-tipping and drug and alcohol abuse.

Called Our Community – the Way Forward, the roadshows are being organised by the department’s West Wrexham community development team and will take place between Wednesday, July 7 and Thursday, July 15, stopping at various locations in each of the five villages.

Cllr Rodney Skelland, lead member for regeneration and corporate governance, said: “The feedback provided by residents is being used to help develop these actions plans.

“The plans will help communities tackle the issues that matter most to local people and the roadshows are a great opportunity to find out more.”

There will also be interactive activities, a free prize draw and a drawing competition for children.
