TWO new police officers have been pounding the beat in the Wrexham south district.

Sergeant Chris Griffiths has joined as the new neighbourhood policing sergeant for Rhos and PC Chris Ryder is the community beat manager for Cefn Mawr, Plas Madoc and Llangollen Rural.

Speaking to the Leader PC Ryder said that his key priorities would be dealing with anti-social behaviour, particularly on housing estates.

The former response sergeant has also vowed to carry out regular drugs warrants in the area.

“The big priority is to reduce crime in our patch,” he said.

“I would urge people to come and speak to me if they have any issues with anything specific.”

Sgt Griffiths, who has formerly worked as a custody sergeant and response sergeant, said: “I’ll be more community based dealing with the community and listening to what the community wants us to deal with.

“I’ll be working to increase confidence and trust with the public and to tackle issues close to people’s hearts.”
