FIRE service bosses are to consult the public on ways to improve their service.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service wants to hear views on key issues including the prevention of death and injury from fires in the home and other properties.

Also up for debate is the way the service deals with flooding, road traffic collisions and the problems of deliberate fires, and ways of reducing the risks faced by socially or economically disadvantaged people.

Chief fire officer Simon Smith said: “Today’s fire and rescue service delivers a far more sophisticated range of services than just responding to emergencies.

“We like to think that however good we are at what we do, we should always aim to do even better. We also like to think that what we’re planning to do is in line with public expectations.

“After all, it’s public money that pays for the service.”

While the service has drafted an improvement and risk reduction plan for 2009-12, it wants to hear from residents, business people and other service users before finalising its objectives for 2011-12.
