THIS weekend, 49 young women will compete for the title of Miss Wales 2010.

Among them are four contestants from Wrexham and Flintshire, who will be doing their very best to show why they should win the coveted prize.

The girls will each have an interview with the judges during the day and, in the evening, will take part in three rounds. These are Welsh dress wear, party wear and evening wear, after which the winner will be crowned.

Proceeds from the event will go to The Joshua Foundation, a charity which provides life experiences for children with cancer.

The winner of the competition will travel across the world in an ambassadorial role
for The Joshua Foundation.

Highlights will include a visit to Lapland with families in December and also a month-long visit to Australia in the summer as part of the fundraising Oz Experience.

Among other prizes, Miss Wales 2010 will go on to represent Wales at Miss World, which this year is held in Vietnam. She will also receive a contract with Vibe Models and a wardrobe of evening wear from competition sponsors,
