YSCEIFIOG 2
CEFN 6

TWO wins from their last three games will seal a first Summer League championship in 17 years for Cefn.

Gwyndaf Pritchard’s red-hot charges made it six wins on the bounce with their sparkling six-goal showing at Ysceifiog - and thanks to other results, Cefn are now four points clear at the top with only three games left to play.

Despite the overwhelming win, Cefn’s Dilwyn Roberts admitted: “It should have been better, to be honest!

“It was quite a convincing performance by us.”

Going into the match on a run of just one defeat in their last 16 games, Cefn had effectively wrapped up the points by half-time.

Top scorer Edward Davies continued his fine run in front of goal by grabbing the opener when he latched on to a long ball.

It was soon 2-0 in Cefn’s favour courtesy of a fantastic team move from the visitors that ended with Jake Walker crossing for Edward Davies to head home his 17th goal of a fine campaign.

The visitors added a third before the interval as 15-year-old Gwion Owen headed in his first senior goal for the club.

There’s no way you can keep Dewi Jones out of the limelight and the experienced frontman got in on the act with a couple of goals early in the second period to take his own personal 2010 haul up to a lucky 13.

Ysceifiog gained some reward with a goal apiece from Tom Jones and Tom Carney, however, Cefn weren’t quite finished yet and Jake Walker scored his 11th goal of the summer from the edge of the box.

Ysceifiog’s men of the match in difficult circumstances were Tom Jones and Andy Rook.
