Short-handed Caerwys fade in second half

THINGS went to form as Nantglyn enjoyed their nap at bottom-of-the-table Caerwys.
 

Bryn Jones’ high-flyers kept pace with leaders Cefn thanks to this five-goal showing, which stretches their unbeaten run to five games.
 

Arguably, it was still anyone’s match at the interval with a solitary goal separating the sides.
 

Steven Potter was the player on target with his second goal of the campaign.
 

Elsewhere for Nantglyn, top scorer Geraint Jones went close when he hit the woodwork.
 

Talking about the first half, joint-Caerwys manager John Owens said: “We played some quite good football and threatened the Nantglyn goal on a few occasions. But finishing wasn’t the best quality.”
 

Nantglyn struck twice early in the second half - both times through Gareth Lewis - and there was to be no way back for the home side.
 

Caerwys were at a further disadvantage when they were reduced to 10 men after Bryn Roberts picked up his second yellow card of the evening.
 

“We couldn’t compete,” added Owens.
 

“They’re quite a decent football side are Nantglyn. Up until then, we were doing quite well, but were not getting any result in the finishing.”
 

Nantglyn made it four-nil when 15-year-old Endaf Waller scored his first goal for the club, benefiting from some fine work by Rhodri Evans.
 

The same player was the instigator for goal number five as he crossed for Osian Jones to head in.
 

For Caerwys, midfielder Nick Voyle received the man of the match nod.
