The Phennah’s were back in tandem as Llay Welfare recorded a 122 run success over Bersham in Division One.

Opening batsman, key bowler and skipper Dave missed the defeat to Conwy last weekend, but was reunited with Mike to lead Llay to their third win of the campaign.

Dave led the way with a superb unbeaten century while Mike joined him at the crease to add a brisk 65 not out as Llay totalled 240-2 declared.

After the interval, Llay bowled their opponents out for just 118, Dave Phennah grabbing 3-18 and Jamie Beale taking 4-33.

Basement outfit Marchwiel and Wrexham put in a spirited performance against leaders Greaford before losing by four wickets.

Michael Forgrave, Owen Ward,and Sajjid Hossain all chipped in with runs for Marchwiel as Gresford won the toss and elected to bowl, but the hosts could only post 133 as Patrick Richards (4-33), Chris Ellwood (2-19), John Bell (2-23) and Sean Richards (2-44) flourished.

In reply, Gresford needed an unbeaten 42 from number seven Sean Richards to get them over the winning line as Hossain added to his runs with 2-24.
Halkyn lost for the fifth time this season as Llandudno 2nds grabbed a four wicket away victory.

Having been put into bat Halkyn lost three of their top four for a combined total of 10 runs, and despite rebuiding with a late contribution by Gareth Thomas (24) they could only post 105-9 declared.

Thomas bagged 2-18 after the turnaround, while John Gaskell helped himself to three wickets, but it proved in vain as Llandudno reached 108-6.

Northop came up against Conwy run machine Shaun Davies and were left to rue their luck as they fell to as four wicket defeat.

A strong batting performance saw Northop post 225-5 with Harry Lewis (54 not out), Richard Walker (44), Mark Allman (42), and Darren Williams (35) all contributing.

It looked as though it would be a challenging total, but Davies made light work of it, hitting 109, which included 16 fours and a six.

John Lee Rowlands hit an unbeaten 89 from just 56 balls to help Denbigh record a seven wicket success over Bethesda.

After Bethesda posted 225-8 declared, Denbigh produced a perfect run chase, William Affleck (67 not out) and Rowlands seeing them home inside 40 overs.

Rhewl produced a determined batting performance to record a losing draw at Pwllheli, who posted 245-4 declared thanks to Nadeem Rehman’s 107 not out.
John Eccles starred for Rhewl, with an undefeated 73 as his side ended on 199-8 from 56 overs.

Gwersyllt Park returned to form in Division Two, beating visitors Carmel and District by 73 runs.

Wayne Evans led the way with a fine 96, while Steve Reeves (42 not out) and Ian Pearson (39) chipped in to guide Park to 227-5 from 45 overs, Michael Harrison the pick of Carmel’s attack with 3-51.

A 97 run partnership by Nick Washbrook (55 not out) and Mike Williams (38 not out) got Carmel near the finishing line, but Park restricted them to 154-4.

Brymbo 2nds lack of experience was evident as they were beaten by nine wickets at Menai Bridge 2nds. Only three batsmen reached double figures, Michael Edge the best with 32 as they totalled just 114.

After the turnaround Bridge reached 116-1 after 16 overs, Jamie Smith with the sole wicket.

Batting also proved the downfall of Northop 2nds as Anglesey Aluminium picked up a 126 run triumph.

Jack Darcy (3-28), Richard Turton (3-32), and Rhys Hayes (2-43) all bowled well as Anglesey totalled 225-9, but the reply never really got going.

Tom Allman top scored with 30, but only two other players made more than eight as Northop were rolled out for 99, Chris Dawson spinning his way to 6-22.

Tony Manoj enjoyed some success for Pontblyddyn 2nds, although the Alder Meadow outfit lost to St Asaph by two wickets.

Manoj scored 53 of Pont’s 127 before taking 4-27 alongside Ranjith Appuhamy’s 4-10, but St Asaph were able to edge past with finishing post.

Corwen were also amongst the losing sides as Bangor 2nds claimed a 51 run away success.

Nathan Aldridge, Will Roberts, Joshua Maynard, and Will Pooler were all in the wickets as Bangor’s innings was ended on 161 all out.

But Corwen were dismissed for 110, Mark Wyeth (40) and Matthew Duckworth (31).

Hawarden Park 2nds leapfrogged Buckley at the Division Three summit thanks to a convincing 108 run victory over Bala.

Adam Doyle smashed four sixes and six fours in a perfectly timed 63, while opener Andy Griffin found the bowling to his liking with 45 as Park posted 239-4.

Despite a half century from Bala opener Rhodri Edwards, the away side were always up against it and finally ended on 131-9, Tom Norris (3-7) and skipper Stuart Green (3-12) the men to profit.

Buckley were made to work hard for their victory, beating Ruthin by the narrowest of margins.

Ryan White (4-45) and Paul Wilbraham (3-33) were the pick for Buckley as Ruthin were all out for 146, Ben Syme and Stephen Bryan-Jones with 30s.

In reply, Owen Hughes claimed 5-49 as Buckley wobbled, but a crucial 55 from Jordan Baxter and Ian White’s 36 helped them to 147-9.

Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nds were dominant against Mold 2nds, posting over 180 before dismissing their opponents for under 40; while Mike Arden hit 58 not out as Castell Alun (158) lost to Denbigh 2nds (164-7) by six runs, Joe Lewis (48) top scoring.

Michael Paletia’s 77 not out helped Llay Welfare 2nds to a one wicket win over promotion chasing Mynydd Isa.

Carl Jutson (45), Ian Dixon (34), and Nail Amos (30) were in the runs as Isa scored 150 all out inside 29 overs. Llay used five of the extra overs they were given to clinch victory.

Nicholas Harris (74) top scored for Shotton (190-8) as they beat Llanrwst 2nds (71) by 119 runs.

Connah’s Quay made it six wins from seven Division Four matches as they triumphed over Corus Colors by 101 runs.

Andy Davies (50) and James Abraham (30) were the main run scorers for Quay, who totalled 157 all out, Tony Bailey the main thorn in the side with 3-38.

There was to be no denying Quay however, Gavin Parry taking 5-11 as Corus were rolled out for 56.

Gresford 2nds shrugged off Gareth Parry’s unbeaten 98 for Bersham 2nds to claim a nine wicket win.

Parry was the chief run maker for Bersham as they posted 158-4, but it was to prove too little a total as Steve Griffin hit 78 not out.

Griffin was joined in the runs by Ian Weaver (44) and Jack Bunkell (29 not out).

Dafydd Timothy rolled back the years to bowl Carmel and District 2nds to a 62 run victory against visiting Abergele 2nds.

Carmel had scored 204-9 having won the toss and electing to bat, Timothy Abraham leading the way with 42. After the interval it was the Timothy show as he took 5-19 to dismiss Abergele for 142.

Halkyn 2nds breathed fresh life into their Division Five survival chances with a three wicket win over Mochdre 3rds.

Kevin Jones (4-12) and Alex North (3-28) bowled superbly to roll Mochdre out for 92 before Shaun Gibson (39) and Matthew Williams (22 not out) led their side to 96-7.

Buckley cricket club continues to show signs of getting back to their best, the 2nd team sitting third in the table following a four wicket success against Northop 3rds.

Ritchie Thomas and Matthew Edge bagged seven of the Buckley wickets to leave Northop all out for 124, and despite some good bowling from Liam Moores (2-12) the hosts raced to 127-6 and a subsequent victory.

Elsewhere, Andrew Swarbrick’s 68 for Chirk 2nds (148) proved in vain as Llangollen (149-3) clinched an away triumph.

In Division Six, David Hughes hit 93 as Llangollen 2nds (251-6) brushed past Castell Alun (71) and Rhewl 2nds (129) overcame Ruthin 2nds (110) by 19 runs.

Shotton 2nds were unable to raise a side handing Corus Maeshafn eight points.
