A YOUNG man and three youths were last night charged with the murder of a father-of-one.

Christopher Garwell, 23, from Church Street, Connah’s Quay, who is also thought to have connections to the Broughton area, died in hospital on Merseyside on Wednesday afternoon following an affray on the City Walls in Chester.

A 20-year-old male, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old are due to appear before Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston magistrates this morning.

Tributes have continued to pour in for Mr Garwell. Commenting on the Leader website friend Lisa3982 said: “RIP Chris. You didn’t deserve what happened.
Everyone is devastated and in shock.”

Mr Garwell, who is believed to have a two-year-old daughter, was found collapsed and unconscious close to the King Charles Tower on the walls just after 8pm last Thursday.

He was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital before being transferred to Walton hospital in Liverpool, where he died shortly after noon on Wednesday.

It is believed Mr Garwell was a former pupil of Connah’s Quay High School.

School governor and Connah’s Quay councillor Peter Macfarlane said: “It is just a tragedy when a person so young loses their life in that way. It is completely unexpected.

“My sympathies are with his family and friends.”

Friends of Mr Garwell have set up a Facebook tribute page in his memory.

One friend, Kazzy Miles, wrote: “RIP Chris. Gone but never forgotten. You will always have a place in my heart.

“Going to miss you so much. You have always been a good friend to me. We all love you.”

Police say Mr Garwell had been drinking in the Blacon area and later in the city centre with friends from Blacon and Deeside.
