THE family of a disabled baby girl have raised more than £6,000 for the hospital where she is treated.

Linda and David Davies, from Buckley, launched a fundraising mission to raise money for Alder Hey Hospital after their one-year-old daughter Evie Alana was diagnosed with West Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy at just eight weeks old.

Little Evie Alana can suffer up to 27 potentially fatal seizures every day and doctors have warned she has a more than 60 per cent of chance of dying before the age of 10.

Linda enlisted the help of her friends and family to organise a charity evening at the Grosvenor Social Club in Shotton as well as a sponsored walk around Chester.

The two events raised £6,167 for the neuro-disability department at Alder Hey Hospital.

Linda said: “We were hoping to raise about £5,000, but everyone has been so great.

“We had a brilliant day doing the walk. Everyone dressed up and we had £550 just in the bucket collection on the street alone.

“I would like to thank everyone who donated and especially the Mill Hotel in Chester who have been great.”

Evie Alana undergoes regular treatment at Alder Hey as well as Wrexham Maelor hospital.

Linda added: “She is doing well at the moment, she’s doing a lot of smiling.”
