A PLAN for a levy on plastic bags has divided Leader readers.
Earlier this week we reported a compulsory charge of 7p per bag could be introduced in an effort to reduce the number of carriers being used in Wales.
If approved the measure, put forward by the Welsh Assembly Government, would come into force in Spring 2011.
The story has drawn a lively and mixed response from our readers.
Some praised the initative and said the charge would encourage people to use re-usable bags.
One reader suggested carrier bags should be banned altogether.
But another branded the proposed charge a 'useless idea'.
