YSCEIFIOG 2
HENLLAN 4

DON’T rule Henllan out of the Summer League title chase just yet.

Chris Brown’s side slipped eight points off the pace with Thursday’s late loss to Nantglyn, but they’re now back to within just six points of top spot after consigning Danny Jones’ Ysceifiog to only their second home loss of the year.

Henllan boss Brown said: “In the first half we were in control, really, and three-nil up.

“I think in the second half we were rather complacent.”

Speaking the morning after, Ysceifiog player-manager Danny Jones admitted: “It was just a very lacklustre performance last night.”

Gary Madoc-Jones was on hand to give Henllan the lead early doors, before a brace of spot kick awards had the Top Park side well in control.

Ali Stubbs was successful with the first penalty, while Madoc-Jones stepped up to tuck away the second.

Ysceifiog, who had a few players suffering the after-effects of a stag do, did improve in the second half.

Tim Hughes pulled one goal back, however Henllan regained their three-goal initiative when top scorer Alex Ballard diverted home his lucky 13th of the season from Tom Sheridan’s fine centre.

The final word went the way of the Flintshire hosts as Tim Hughes scored his second of the night.

“I don’t think we were in any danger of losing the game and we were always a threat,” said Brown.

For Ysceifiog, Will Newby was the man of the match.
