A MAN who marked his 80th birthday by leaping from an aeroplane at 14,000ft has said he would love to do it again.

Robbie Seddon, of Rhostyllen, was 80 on May 24 and this weekend celebrated  completing his first parachute jump.

He took on the high-flying challenge to raise money for Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool and has so far raised about £2,000 in sponsorship with money still coming in.

He said: “It was a tandem jump and I thought it was wonderful. I certainly wouldn’t rule out the possibility of doing another one some time in the future.

”In the build-up I wasn’t apprehensive at all, in fact I was looking forward to it. Then when the time came it was brilliant and even exceeded my expectations.

“Unless you’ve actually done a parachute jump you can’t know the feeling involved, it was totally invigorating. I was definitely the oldest person there on the day.

“I’m not certain but think I could be the oldest person the parachute school had flown up for a jump. They were very good.”

Mr Seddon has raised funds for a variety of good causes over many years. He chose Alder Hey this time because two of his grandchildren, Holly, aged 14, and four-year-old Ethan, have been patients there.

He was due to undertake the jump near Lancaster a few days after his birthday but bad weather meant the original schedule had to be put back.

The delay didn’t affect Mr Seddon’s resolution in the slightest and he relished every moment. He even arranged for a photographer to film the whole process and it has been put on a DVD so he can show it to friends and family.
