A MULTI-MILLION pound medical centre is set to open its doors to its first patients today.

The finishing touches are being applied to the £8 million Quay Health Centre in Fron Road, Connah’s Quay, which will provide accommodation for three of the town’s GP medical practices.

Dr Morris and Partners, from the St Marks Dee View Surgery, are due to move into the new building today.

Dr Mark Harney from the Fron Road Surgery said: “We are delighted at the prospect of moving into a state-of-the-art building. There is probably no better health centre in Wales.”

Staff at the Fron Road Surgery are scheduled to move in next Tuesday, followed by Dr Lodhi, from Connah’s Quay High Street Surgery, next Friday.

The new building, which will also house a cafe, replaces the existing Connah’s Quay Clinic. A pharmacy has also been built in the adjacent town council offices building.

Although the practices will share many of the facilities in the new centre, they will carry on operating as three separate practices and will have their own dedicated areas within the building. Patients will stay registered with the same practice they are currently with.

Facilities in the building include disabled access, modern IT and communication systems and resources for staff training.

Patients have been warned there may be slight disruptions during the move while records and equipment are relocated.
