A MAN was so drunk he could not remember head-butting his wife and knocking out one of her teeth, a court was told.

Flintshire magistrates sitting at Mold committed David Andrew Harris, 29, to the crown court for sentence.

Harris, of Farm Road, Garden City, was bailed to live at an address in Wirral.

The victim dialled 999 at about 10pm on Sunday, May 16, and said she had been assaulted by her husband.

Officers went to the address and found she had a bleeding lip and that a tooth was missing.

Justin Espie, prosecuting, said a second tooth appeared to be loose.

Mrs Harris said that at about 5pm that evening, she went with her four children to a pub to ask her husband to come home for his dinner.

Mrs Harris said she had a pint of lager while she was there.

Harris later asked his wife if he bought her a bottle of wine, could he go back to the pub?

That was agreed, but when he returned home at 10pm he accused her of writing things about him on Facebook and then head-butted her once in the face.

Mr Espie said the use of a head-butt was akin to the use of a weapon and suggested that the case should be dealt with at the crown court.

The offence was also aggravated by the fact that there were children present at the time of the assault.

David Kirwan, defending, said Harris was drunk that night and could not remember the incident at all, though that was no excuse or mitigation.

The court was told Harris was deeply upset by his behaviour and seriously wished that he could turn the clock back.
