THE mother of an 11-year-old boy killed in a horrific crash on the A55 has paid an emotional tribute to her “best friend”.

Jordan Evans died in a crash near Ewloe which left his four-year-old sister Lilly May critically ill in hospital.

Their mother Karen Evans was seriously injured, and today speaks for the first time about the tragedy in April.

Karen, 36, from Mancot said she had lost the “man of the house”, and told how Jordan looked after his mum, older sister Levi, 18 and Lilly May, who is now recovering well at home.

She said: “He was so protective of me and his big sister, but especially his little sister – she was his best friend. He worshipped the ground she walked on.

“Because he had autism 95 per cent of my time was spent with Jordan.

“It is not just losing a son, I have lost my best friend. He may have only been 11 years old, but he left us with a lifetime of memories.”

Karen got out of her wheelchair for the first time since the crash to run a lap in honour of Jordan, who was a keen boxer and a fan of Liverpool FC.

The run at Sandycroft playing fields was organised by Jordan’s friends and helped raise to £500 towards a bench and a plaque to be placed near his grave.

Karen said: “I wanted the money to go to something they can look back on. His friends can go and sit on it even when they are adults and think about what they did for Jordan.

“It was amazing that his friends from primary school did this, it couldn’t have been easy for them at that age to deal with his death. I was so proud. It was the hardest thing to see all his friends and know he was the one thing missing.

“It showed how much he was thought of. The whole of Mancot and Sandycroft loved that little boy. It was just amazing, I will never be able to thank them enough for what
they have done for Jordan, he would be so proud.”

Jordan was a former pupil at Sandycroft Primary School and had recently started at the St Richard Gwyn High School in Flint.

Karen said: “Jordan was the only boy in high school who wasn’t embarrassed about kissing his mum in public. He has left a hole that can never be filled.”
