THOUSANDS of people attended a street party in Wrexham yesterday, bank holiday Monday.

Crowds flocked to the town centre to enjoy a host of fun activities, with traders, food stalls, a land train, climbing walls, toboggans and a fun house all on offer.

Stephanie Booth, 64, owner of the Wynnstay Arms Hotel, organised the event, which took place around High Street and Yorke Street, and said she had never seen anything like it before.

She said: “It has been packed all day and we have had a fantastic response from people. There has been no trouble, it has been a really good family day out.

“There have been thousands of people, we are really surprised by the number. Everyone I have spoken to said they can’t remember anything like this. I have never seen so many folk walking around smiling.”

According to Mrs Booth plans are already under way to stage similar events in the future.
