VANDALS are continuing to target cars in the north Flintshire area.

During the past few weeks police have reported a spate of cars having windows smashed, wing mirrors ripped off and panels scratched in the Holywell and Bagillt areas.

The latest incident saw six cars parked in Strand Walk, Holywell targeted in less than an hour.

All the damaged vehicles had their side bodywork panels scratched between 11.45am and 12.30pm on Wednesday, May 26.

Earlier this month, cars have been targeted in Rosenheath View and New Brighton Road in Bagillt as well as Greenfield Road in Holywell.

Pensioner James Littlemore, 86, had the wing mirror ripped off his car when it was parked in New Brighton Road.

Speaking after the incident, he said: “You just don’t expect it.

“You look after your car and this is what happens.”

The rampage has prompted police to launch Operation Livedo in a drive to catch the culprits. They have also increased patrols in the areas.

Speaking earlier this month, Sgt John Williams, from Flint Police Station, said he suspected that youths were to blame.

He said: “It’s about identifying who these people are and looking at measures to curb their behaviour. We want to involve the parents and get them to take responsibility for their child’s behaviour.”

Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses. Anyone with information should call North Wales Police on the non-emergency 101 number.
