HENLLAN 4

DON’T rule Henllan out of the Summer League title picture just yet.

With Nantglyn falling at Clawddnewydd, Chris Brown’s side are now just six points away from pole position with half of the season left to complete.

“It was a workmanlike performance,” said Brown the morning after Henllan’s fourth home victory of 2010.

“We did what we had to do.”

There’s a certain amount of symmetry to take from the fact that Henllan scored a brace of goals in each half.

Two goals in the space of five minutes midway through the first half had Henllan in control.

Top scorer Alex Ballard grabbed the opener after 25 minutes and hot on its heels came an Ali Stubbs effort.

Two became three with 25 minutes left to play after player-manager Brown was fouled in the box and the same player picked himself up to convert the penalty with some aplomb.

Alex Ballard completed the scoring 10 minutes from time when he latched on to a through ball to grab his 12th goal of the season so far.
