CLAWDDNEWYDD 4
YSCEIFIOG 1

LAST season’s champions Clawddnewydd remain just five points off top spot after coming from behind to see off battling Ysceifiog.

The home side fell a goal adrift early on, but Clawdd were able to recover to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

Ominously, it’s now three wins on the trot at home for Mark Lewis’ side, but Ysceifiog just can’t buy a point on their travels and this was their fourth defeat in four away matches this season.

Ysceifiog player-boss Danny Jones said: “We went one-nil up and I think we scared them for a bit.”

Mark Parry was the player on target as he nabbed his first ever Summer League goal.

That was to be the bright spot for the weakened Flintshire club, who made the long trip with only 10 men.

Clawdd hit back strongly with a brace of goals from Endaf Jones, while the consistent Dafydd Jones and Elystan Hughes joined him on the scoresheet.

Clawdd supremo Mark Lewis said: “We had a lot of chances but we didn’t convert them. It was an okay performance.”

Mark Parry, stand-in keeper Luke Jones and Marcus Penrhyn-Jones all played well in Ysceifiog colours.
