LLANFAIR 4
CAERWYS 2
ROGER Beech’s Llanfair climbed back into the top-six on the back of a timely win at home to basement side Caerwys.
Four goals up at one stage, Llanfair saw their advantage slip to two goals as Caerwys forged a comeback, but the hosts were pleased with their showing as they made it three wins for the season.
Neil ‘Dafis’ Davies set up Guto Jones for Llanfair’s opener early on and it was 2-0 after 20 minutes as Davies diverted home from a Huw Price corner.
Caerwys had a great chance to level before Llanfair’s second goal, but Kalum Davies’ shot struck the post and agonisingly ran along the goal line.
It was Davies at the double as Llanfair made it 3-0 prior to the break, with the veteran frontman scoring from a tight angle.
Llanfair started the second period well and they were soon four goals up with Price netting a fine volley.
The introduction of Richie Roberts in the second half changed Caerwys fortunes and they had some reward for their efforts courtesy of Jake ‘Yog’ Spencer’s close-range finish.
Soon after, Spencer beat the offside trap and tucked away the visitors’ second of the night.
Llanfair also had opportunities in the second half as Simon McGrath, Ben Walker, Huw Price and Neil Davies all had further chances.
Nick Voyle spurned a decent chance from close range for Caerwys.
