A NEW shopping centre is set to create more than 300 jobs, developers have confirmed.

The £15 million Connah’s Quay Neighbourhood Centre on Fffordd Llanarth is expected to open this summer and will boast a huge range of shops.

Developers St Modwen say most of the new jobs will be at the Morrisons store on the six-acre site on which steel building frames have recently been completed.

Paul Batho, project director, said: “This development is great news for residents in Connah’s Quay and Flintshire generally.

“It represents a significant investment in the area and will provide a modern retail centre with a variety of retail outlets and significant improvements to public space.

“As well as the new facilities the community can look forward to wider benefits it will create - it will provide a welcome boost to the local economy, with increased spending in the area, a rise in visitors and the creation of hundreds of new jobs.”

There will be about 20 other new and returning businesses at the centre alongside Morrisons as well as 325 car parking spaces, improved pedestrian links and a bus pick-up point.

Gail Roberts, retail recruitment manager at Morrisons, said: “We are always committed to employing local people at our new sites, who can provide excellent customer service, offer local knowledge and understand customer needs.

“When customers visit stores we’ve found that the atmosphere is much better if they can see friendly faces from the community working there.”

Management recruitment for the store is expected to start this month and staff recruitment will begin at recruitment open days in July.
