A YOUNG man was last night charged with unlawful killing after an investigation into an assault in a town precinct in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gafyn Thomas Denman, 21, from the Mold area, has been accused of the manslaughter of Peter William Jones, 24, also from Mold, and remanded to appear at Flintshire Magistrates Court in Mold today.
A 22-year-old man from Sychdyn, near Mold, who was also arrested early on Sunday, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Police had earlier launched a murder inquiry following the altercation in Precinct Way, Buckley, near the Somerfield car park on Sunday. Detectives also appealed for any witnesses to come forward and to call North Wales Police on 0845 607 1002.
Mr Jones, from Mold, had been out with his father, also called Peter Jones, on a night out in Chester before returning to Buckley where they went to buy take-away meals.
Little Peter, as he is affectionately known by his family, suffered serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital where he later died.
