A MAN has been given a 12-month supervision order after assaulting his ex-partner.

George Jason Taylor, 39, admitted getting out of a taxi and pushing Kerry Higgins to the floor in Normanby Drive, Connah’s Quay.

Mold Magistrates Court heard Miss Higgins was left with bruising to her legs and left eye after the assault, which happened on April 6.

Matthew Ellis, prosecuting, said Taylor, of Durham Road, Stanley, County Durham, had been in a relationship with Miss Higgins since May 2009 when the pair met on holiday in Spain.

He added: “He moved from North East England to live with her in Deeside and shortly afterwards he became aggressive and violent towards her.”

A victim statement from Miss Higgins which was read out in court said she felt Taylor was ‘messing with her head’ and that she had to move on and cut off contact with him. But Phil Lloyd-Jones, defending, said his client, who has cystic fibrosis, had never been violent towards Miss Higgins before the incident in question and that he had in fact been the victim of violence.

He added: “On that day he had been drinking to excess and acted out of character.

He is sorry.

Magistrates imposed the supervision order, with a condition that Taylor does not contact Miss Higgins and ordered him to pay £100 compensation and £100 prosecution costs.
