A PENSIONER who has waited four years for a garden fence has been forced to build her own.
Phyllis Robinson, of Maes Y Coed, Flint, says neighbours have been given a wire fence around their home by the council but she was forgotten.
The 87-year-old animal lover, who lives alone, was so scared her cats and dogs would escape on to the road that she built a makeshift wall in her garden using loose bricks.
She said: “My daughter came to visit me one day and said ‘Mum, you won’t believe it. Over the road has had a new fence.’
“One neighbour hasn’t even got small children but she has been given a new fence. I have called the council many times over the last four years but can’t get one for my house.
“I have got cats and two Yorkshire terrier dogs and I have had to use bricks to try and stop them from running out of the garden, but the bricks make my house look a mess.
“I have spent about £60 trying to build my own fence and it doesn’t help when you’re handicapped.”
A spokesman for Flintshire Council said: “Maintenance officers have visited the property and instructions have been issued to renew the fence.”
