A HI-TECH heist at a Flintshire convenience store will feature on the BBC’s Crimewatch tonight.

Over £14,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen from the One Stop store in Greenfield in the early hours of January 12.

Hooded robbers broke in to the flat above the store, cut a hole in the floorboards and smashed their way in to the shop.

Once inside they entered the store room and emptied a locked display containing cigarettes.

But the thieves, who thought their faces were concealed forgot to disconnect the CCTV system.

DC Andy Jessop from Mold CID told the Leader: “They managed to disable various alarms and stole a computer part which they thought controlled the CCTV system.

“Actually they stole the wrong part and we have footage of the whole thing with one of the offender’s faces seen quite clearly.

“There are at least three culprits, I would say.”

The offenders left the shop via the roof with 16 bin bags of cigarettes which were loaded in to a white van.

DC Jessop, who will be travelling to the BBC studios in London for the filming of the show, is hoping for a good response from the public.

Crimewatch is on BBC1 tonight at 9pm.

Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to contact DC Jessop in Mold CID on 01352 708493.
