LLANDYRNOG 1
CAERWYS 0
ROUTE one won the day as Llandyrnog edged Caerwys to stretch their 100 per cent winning start.
A point apiece looked to be on the cards until the 70th minute, when Adam Lloyd’s long punt forward was diverted into the net by Mally Hughes for the only goal.
Playing up the slope in the first half, Llandyrnog did play some decent stuff, although the final ball was generally lacking.
Josh Jones and Mally Hughes had their best chances, while at the other end Llandyrnog keeper Ian Robertson made a good save to deny Caerwys before the break.
Caerwys hopes weren’t helped when they lost the impressive Geraint Jones to a first-half hamstring injury.
Nick Voyle came on in the second period and he saw a lot of the ball for Caerwys, who did much of the pressing.
Visiting chances fell to Bryn Roberts, Voyle and Jake ‘Yog’ Spencer, while late on Llandyrnog almost grabbed a second, but a cruel bobble denied Craig Jones.
For Llandyrnog Adam Lloyd and Aaron Hughes both played well, while 15-year-old Tom Davies did well on his Caerwys debut.
