YSCEIFIOG 3
LLANGYNHAFAL 3

A REAL Summer League encounter saw Ysceifiog and Llangynhafal having to be satisfied with a share of the points.

Visiting boss Martin Dyer took along a bare XI with him over the border to Flintshire and he said: “They were in pretty much the same position so it was a classic Summer League encounter.

“The only thing missing was someone playing in hobnail boots!”

Although they had a fair bit of the play in the first half, Ysceifiog found themselves 3-1 adrift after 45 minutes.

Berwyn Jones (2) and Tim Gittins had Llangynhafal in front, while Phil Williams had Ysceifiog on the scoreboard.

The home side roared back in the second half, though, and they salvaged a point courtesy of Liam O’Malley’s fine lob and a Sean Evans penalty.

As well as two-goal Berwyn Jones, other impressive Llangynhafal figures were Rhodri Morris, Owain Morris and Justin Williams.

Both of the young keepers caught the eye on the night, with Ethan Jones (Llangynhafal) pulling off one blinding stop and Oliver Davies kept a clean sheet for Ysceifiog in the second half.
