A MAN pushed the mother of his young daughter to the floor and rubbed the contents of a bin bag into her face, a court heard.

Magistrates at Mold were told the 28-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also encouraged the young woman’s five-year-old daughter to swear at her and taught the child to spell an offensive word.

Huw Evans, prosecuting, said the woman had gone to visit the defendant at his home in Holywell on April 4 and took her two young daughters with her.

While they were there, the defendant began telling the woman she was fat and ugly and made comments about her ‘thunder thighs’.

The woman took her two children out for a walk and when they returned, an argument broke out and the defendant pushed her to the floor. Mr Evans said: “He rubbed food from the bin onto her face then emptied the contents of a black bin bag over her.”

The next day, another argument flared after the defendant told the five-year-old to swear at her mother.

Mr Evans added: “The woman told the defendant she was worried about him drinking too much and he grabbed her arm and twisted it.

“She had to scream at him to stop and told him if he touched her again she would call the police.”

The defendant assaulted the woman again shortly afterwards when she tried to telephone her mother by grabbing her by the neck and pushing her head against a wall.

“The five-year-old was screaming at him to get off her mother,” Mr Evans said.

The defendant then grabbed the woman by the neck and threw her out of the house, leaving the five-year-old and the baby inside.

He admitted the assault and Fiona Larkin, defending, said he accepted he had an alcohol problem and had been prescribed anti-depressants by his GP.

She added: “He has admitted that for the last few months their relationship had been volatile because he had lost his job and had not been able to find work.”

A letter from the victim was read out in court, in which she said she was standing by the defendant and that they planned to attend relationship counselling.

Magistrates ordered a full pre-sentence report and warned the defendant that all sentencing options would be considered.

He is due to appear at Mold Magistrates Court on May 13.
