BATTLE lines are being drawn to fight any moves to burn rubbish from across North Wales on Deeside.
Five counties want to burn their rubbish at an incinerator, which could be built on Deeside Industrial Estate.
But a furious senior councillor has promised a ‘battle royale’ over the proposals.
Cllr Bernie Attridge, deputy opposition leader on Flintshire County Council, said: “I don’t want to see Deeside as the dumping ground for all of North Wales’ residual waste. The fight starts now.”
The rallying cry comes as public meetings are held by the North Wales Residual Waste Treatment Project to find out what people think.
Cllr Nancy Matthews, who is in charge of waste strategy in Flintshire, said the proposals were still at a very early stage and that it was premature to claim an incinerator would be built in the county.
