A YOUNG boy, who was bullied at school, has set up a website to support fellow victims.

Jordan Doughty, 12, was kicked, pushed against corridor walls and pushed into other people leaving him with bruises, cuts and lumps on his body.

The determined year eight pupil reported the group of youngsters involved and the problem was sorted out and now Jordan, a pupil of Ysgol Bryn Alyn in Gwersyllt, has set up a website called “Beat the Bullies” to help children going through the same ordeal.

Speaking about the experience Jordan, who was also bullied when he was in year seven, said the situation got so bad he did not want to go to school in the morning.

He said: “It was upsetting. They called me names and I didn’t want to come into school.

“When I was being bullied I told my head of year and he got all the bullies together and sorted it out.”

His mum Candice, who works as a teaching assistant for children in years seven to 10 said: “He felt too scared to talk to me.

“There was one day when I couldn’t get him to school and I got in touch with the school.

“I think as a parent you feel, not angry with yourself, but upset – why should they do it to yours?”

Jordan’s website http://beatthebullies.forumsmotion.com features a forum and sections with advice about bullying and how to deal with it.

He said: “I want to help people who are being bullied and would tell anyone being bullied to speak about it.

“I enjoy school now.”

Candice, of Bryn Gwenfro, Tanyfron, added: “I’m proud of him – it’s so important to have this information for people so that they know what to do.”

Bryn Alyn headteacher Rob Ratcliffe said: “Any mechanism that is going to help young people is a valuable resource.

“We are very proud of Jordan for this initiative.

“We have a zero tolerance approach to bullying and have robust systems in place to deal with it.”

In Jordan’s case the bullying was stopped following an approach to two teachers – Robert Ransome and Daniel Trueman.

Mr Ratcliffe added: “The reports I get in general are that pupils feel safe but in the student community there will be some degree of bullying.

“All the students know we have a strong view against bullying and will support them.”
