A CYCLIST died after being struck by a car as he attempted to cross a busy dual carriageway in Flintshire.
The A55 was closed yesterday afternoon following the incident at about 3pm.
A police spokeswoman said the man, described as local to the area, was hit trying to cross the carriageway near Ewloe.
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said the incident involved a car and a pushbike and happened on the eastbound slip-road at Aston
Hill.
Two ambulances and two rapid response vehicles rushed to the scene.
The man was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital but later died from his injuries.
The A55 was shut until early evening.
A police spokeswoman said: “At 3pm a local man was struck by a vehicle while crossing the A55 at Ewloe.
“As a result of the injuries sustained he later died at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
“The road was closed and reopened at 7pm.”
Next of kin have been informed and police say the victim’s name will be released today.
Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to phone 0845 607 1002 with any information relating to the incident.
