TOURISTS have been visiting Flintshire to learn about Welsh cooking.

Gourmets from Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Spain and
Finland toured Deeside College’s catering kitchens where they sampled and prepared locally sourced produce.

The group were also taken to Hawarden Farm Shop to buy some of the products they had been using in the session.

Visitor Janis Vinonen of Latvia said: “I’ve had an exceptionally good time learning about the way Welsh people cook.

“The day has been very interesting and the food has been delicious. This is my first time in Wales and I will definitely be preparing a Welsh meal for friends and family when I return home.”

The visit was organised as part of the Grundtvig Learner Workshop which allows adults from Europe to visit other hosting countries and learn about different cultures.

Deeside College tutor Chris Griffiths added: “We have really enjoyed being involved in this programme. It is great to be able to extend our practices to different community and project groups especially those who have travelled so far.”
