A FORGOTTEN garden has been restored to its former glory more than half a century after it was built.
The Coronation Gardens in Buckley were built in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, but had become overgrown and unusable after being neglected in recent years.
After securing a grant of £20,000 from the Welsh Assembly Government’s Tidy Towns scheme the garden in Chester Road has been lovingly restored.
Buckley Town Council also ploughed an additional £10,000 in to the project.
Town council officer Andrew Wilkinson said: “It was a tip, it had completely gone to rack and ruin. We had the contractors – Wright Landscapes – working through the snow and hail, but we are delighted with the results.”
The garden will now be used for the benefit of the community.
